The Sierra Park Neighborhood
- A community built with affordable prices
and value conscience amenities for everyday living.
The concept of building
a community that offers the first time homebuyer a realistic
possibility of actually owning a home has never come to Plumas
County until now with the neighborhood developed at Sierra Park.
The combined vision
of Owner/Partner Les Ellis with wife Audrey, and now long-time
business partners Ralph and Trish Wilburn, resulted in a community
that incorporated all of the aspects associated with quality living.
From efficient interior amenities to the abundant views of the
snow-capped mountains, Sierra Park provides the perfect opportunity
for homeowners to live in a thoughtfully planned and secure family
environment. A neighborhood they can be proud of and truly call
their home.
It all began when Les
and Audrey Ellis, vacationing one summer at the Green Horn
Creek Guest Ranch in 2000, met Ralph and Trish Wilburn. They shared
a passion for the very mountain terrain the Wilburn’s called home
and felt they never wanted to leave.
As natives of England,
Les and Audrey Ellis quickly fell in love with this new
and exciting High Sierra locale and it was not soon after that
Wilburn proposed building a project on an ideal piece of property
zoned for housing. In 2004 and 2005, the groundwork was set. A
project valued at ten million dollars developed consisting of 33
energy efficient homes in a planned neighborhood with beautiful
mountain views.
Offering six stylistically
different floor plans, Sierra Park offers adequate yard
areas, privacy considerations and preferred views to prospective
homeowners. Ellis states, “The idea behind Sierra Park is to provide
the Quincy area with new, warm and secure homes in a family oriented
neighborhood.”
A local endeavor, Sierra
Park maintains 97 percent of the work force on a local level,
combining the expertise of engineers, contractors and the Plumas
County Building and Planning Department to participate in the building
of this community.
Plumas Bank, the leading
local financial institution has given this project the nod
of approval. Undoubtedly, this is a partnership seen in this
economic downturn as a noteworthy investment by institution, developer
and potential homeowner.
Upon the planning stages,
Ellis wanted to add more value to the homes and quickly
discovered there was a need for more energy efficient homes in
the Quincy area. Working hard to attain Energy Star® certification,
Ellis made certain that each of the homes met this crucial standard.
“Our homes have an Energy Star® rating which means
they must be 15 percent above California’s rigorous energy efficiency
standard,” says Ellis.
Research on utility
bill savings with energy efficient homes indicates that
there is an approximate average of $1,000.00 per year in savings.
A savings, Ellis feels is important enough to pass along to homeowners.
Some of the energy efficient features offered in
the homes at Sierra Park are:
- Energy Star® qualified furnaces
- Energy Star® dishwashers and refrigerator/freezers
- Rinnia on-demand water heaters
- Vinyl double-glazed windows
- Sized, sealed and installed ducts
- Properly installed insulation of R44 value
in the roof, R23 in the walls
- R19 in the floors and sound insulation throughout
the interior walls.
Another amenity Ellis
has so diligently worked hard to achieve is an insurance
backed ten-year home warranty. For Ellis, the purpose was obvious
—
“I want people to feel like they are moving into a new neighborhood
of warm, family homes where they feel a sense of old-fashioned values
and pride of home ownership.”
For new Sierra Park
homeowners Jason Marshall and Amber Miller, this sentiment
could not be truer. “A home is the biggest investment you can make
and we are very happy here at Sierra Park”, says Marshall.
“Anyone thinking of buying a home should ask the
people who have moved here”, says Ellis. “Families who have moved
into the neighborhood have written numerous testimonials which we
have featured on our web site.”
Ellis believes that
not everything associated with the economic crisis is in
downturn and that there are still good real estate investments
out there. “Now is the time to buy a home at Sierra Park. Interest
rates are low, and we have great deals available on our six remaining
lots in Phase I of our project.”
And there is more to
come, with Phase II homeowners will still have an opportunity
to buy the home of their dreams and invest in a future for their
families.
